Pest and Wildlife Questions, Answered Simply
Answers to common questions
How does Treesuggestion Pest Control work if it doesn't do the pest control itself?
Treesuggestion Pest Control is a referral service. We do not send out workers or do any treatment. You tell us about your problem, and we connect you with an independent local provider in our network. You then talk with the provider, compare their approach and written quote, and decide what feels right. There is no obligation to hire anyone.
What should I expect when a pest control provider visits my home?
A provider will usually start by looking at the problem areas. They may check the basement, attic, kitchen, and outside walls. They look for signs like droppings, nests, chew marks, or damp wood. Then they explain what they found, suggest a plan, and give you a written quote. Ask questions at any point. A good provider will explain things in plain words and let you decide.
Are pest treatments and wildlife removal safe for my kids and pets?
Safety depends on the method and the product. Many providers can use targeted treatments, baits placed out of reach, or traps and exclusion work that avoid sprays. Tell the provider about children, pets, and anyone with health concerns before work starts. Ask what products are used, where they go, and how long to stay away from treated areas. Follow the written directions.
How much does an exterminator usually cost?
Costs vary a lot by pest, home size, and how bad the problem is. In the U.S., a one-time treatment for common pests often runs from about $100 to $500. Termite work and wildlife removal can cost more. Bed bug treatment can also run higher. Always ask for a written quote so you can compare.
Will my homeowners insurance cover pest or wildlife damage?
It depends on your policy. Many policies do not cover pest problems that build up slowly. Some policies may cover sudden damage, such as harm from an animal getting into the attic. Check your policy or ask your insurer. Providers can often help document damage for a claim, such as with notes and photos.
How fast can someone get to my home?
It varies by provider and by the season. Many providers can respond quickly, but availability is not something we can promise. Request a callback to check provider availability in your area. You can also send the request form with a few details about what you are seeing. Early help often keeps a small problem from growing.
Do I need to leave my house during treatment?
Sometimes, but not always. Many treatments for ants or roaches let you stay home. Some jobs, like bed bug treatment, may ask you to leave for a set time. Your provider should tell you before they start. Ask how long to stay out, what to cover or move, and when it is safe to return.
Is it better to try DIY first or call a provider?
Store products can help with a very small, new problem. But they often miss the source. Mice, rats, termites, and bed bugs tend to come back without a full plan. If you see droppings, noises in the walls, or damage, it may be wise to compare a few quotes. Asking for a quote does not commit you to anything.
